The last few weeks have been a whirlwind at Jeremiah’s Place! As we previously announced, we were mandated to close our doors on March 16th to comply with requirements from Governor Wolf and the Allegheny County Health Department.
We spent the following weeks assessing our clients’ needs, staff availability, and community support to discern our next steps. It became very apparent that Jeremiah’s Place was still needed in our community in a variety of ways.
Here is what we have been up to since April 1 st :
Tangible support for clients:
We have been working closely with our clients to assess what their needs are at this time and how Jeremiah’s Place can help. We have provided diapers and other baby supplies to our mothers on an individual basis, and we have scheduled events for Jeremiah’s Place clients to pick up groceries, baby supplies, and hygiene products.
We will continue to explore ways to provide assistance to our families during these difficult times.
Childcare for essential workers:
We secured a waiver to reopen on a limited basis on April 1 st . We have increased our cleaning efforts and put in a number of policies to manage childcare in a safe manner. We are currently only open to provide childcare to essential workers. We have a limited capacity and have been scheduled to capacity since re-opening.
If you are an essential worker, please contact us at 412-924-0726 to see if we have availability.
Otherwise, you can contact the Early Learning Resource Center (ELRC) for more information: https://elrc5.alleghenycounty.us/news/pa-department-of-health-coronavirus-reminders
