Jeremiah’s Place Selected to Participate in Heritage Community Transportation’s 2026 Courtesy Card Program

[Pittsburgh, PA, August 27, 2026] — Jeremiah’s Place has been selected as a recipient of Heritage Community Transportation’s (HCT) 2026 Courtesy Card Program, providing our clients with complimentary access to public transportation services that connect them to work, school, healthcare, and other essential destinations.

Through the program, Jeremiah’s Place will distribute Courtesy Cards to eligible clients, which will provide them with three months of unlimited rides on Heritage Community Transportation’s three fixed routes with 81 stops that serves individuals in 16 communities throughout eastern Allegheny County.

The Courtesy Card Program, administered by Heritage Community Initiatives, helps remove transportation barriers that can prevent individuals and families from accessing critical services and opportunities. This year, 12 nonprofit, educational, and public service organizations were selected to participate, collectively benefiting 1,000 individuals.

“Transportation is often one of the biggest challenges facing the people we serve,” said Tammy Aupperle, Executive Director. “We are grateful to Heritage Community Initiatives for providing this resource, which will help our clients access employment, medical appointments, educational opportunities, and other services that support their independence and well-being.”

For more than 27 years, HCT has been a trusted provider of affordable, accessible public transportation throughout eastern Allegheny County and as the region’s only human service nonprofit designated as a public transportation provider, HCT has delivered more than 1.6M rides all for just 25 cents a ride. In addition, HCT provides connections to Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) routes at many of its stops, expanding mobility options for riders across the region.

The Courtesy Card Program was launched in 2021 and responds to increasing community demand each year. Heritage Community Initiatives is the only human services nonprofit in Pennsylvania designated as a provider of public transportation and operates under the same safety, quality, and compliance standards as other public transit agencies.
