It was an enchanted evening in the Hundred Acre Wood for nearly 200 guests Thursday night at the Energy Innovation Center in the Hill District.
This year’s Helping Hands Gala to benefit Jeremiah’s Place featured a Winnie the Pooh theme to celebrate the organization’s ninth anniversary.
The party was catered by Big Burrito with food stations lining the long hall. Plates in hand, guests checked out the silent auction before moving to the main room for a brief welcome and thank you from executive director Tammy Aupperle.
“Tonight is a wonderful night for people to come together and support Jeremiah’s Place …which allows us to provide free care for our children and families,” she said.
“Jeremiah’s Place is a 24-hour crisis nursery which is essentially an emergency day care service for children under the age of 6,” explained Jillian Long, family empowerment coordinator.
Emergencies can include medical appointments, labor and delivery or last-minute child care issues. Jeremiah’s Place can keep children up to seven days.
