Learn how to make these blankets that are treasured by the children that stay with us
What is a No Sew Blanket?
A no-sew blanket is a type of blanket that can be made without the need for sewing or stitching. Instead of sewing, it typically involves tying or knotting the edges of two pieces of fabric together to create a cozy and warm blanket.
These blankets are simple to make and help comfort the children who stay with us at Jeremiah's Place.

How Do I Make a No Sew Blanket?
To make a no-sew blanket, you'll need two pieces of fabric of the same size. Fleece is a popular choice due to its softness and warmth, but other fabrics can also be used. Here are the basic steps:
- Lay the two pieces of fabric on top of each other, with the wrong sides facing out. Ensure they are aligned properly.
- Cut off any selvage edges or uneven parts to make both pieces of fabric identical in size.
- Cut fringes around the edges of the fabric. The fringes should be about 1 to 1.5 inches wide and 3 to 4 inches deep. You can use scissors or a rotary cutter for this step.
- Once the fringes are cut along all four sides of the fabric, start tying the fringes from the top piece to the corresponding fringe on the bottom piece. You can use a simple double knot to tie them together securely.
- Continue tying the fringes all the way around the blanket, leaving a small opening to turn the blanket right side out.
- After tying all the fringes, gently pull the blanket through the opening, so the right sides of the fabric are facing out.
- Finally, flatten the edges and tie any remaining fringes to complete the blanket.
